Getting Here - An easy city to reach

Atlanta is exceptionally well connected to the United States and the world through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL).

Located approximately 16 kilometres from downtown Atlanta, the airport provides a convenient gateway for international delegates travelling to ICMRBS 2028.

Once you're here, Atlanta's public transport, rideshare, taxi and extensive road network make getting around the metropolitan area straightforward.

FLIGHT ROUTES

For international delegates, direct flights are available from major global hubs including London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Madrid, Rome, Doha, Dubai, Tokyo, Seoul, Mexico City, São Paulo and Toronto, with extensive domestic connections providing easy onward travel throughout the United States.

Atlanta's central location in the southeastern United States also makes it an excellent gateway for delegates travelling from other U.S. cities, with frequent nonstop services from major centres including New York, Boston, Chicago, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston and Miami.

With one of the world's largest airline networks and a convenient airport just a short journey from downtown Atlanta, getting to ICMRBS 2028 has never been easier.

VISAS

NO passport needed for US travellers, however you must always travel with a valid ID, such as a driver license or a state ID card.

U.S. citizens and permanent residents do not require a visa to visit Atlanta. However, citizens from 41 countries can travel to the United States, including Atlanta, for up to 90 days under the Visa Waiver Program. Citizens from over 140 other countries, primarily in Africa, Asia, Oceania, and much of Latin America, must obtain a non-immigrant visa to visit Atlanta for either business (B-1) or tourism (B-2) purposes.

  • Applying for a US tourism visa has essentially two steps: submitting a DS-160 form application and submitting to an interview at your local U.S. embassy or consulate.

    You need a passport, a digital passport-style photo, plus your travel itinerary and travel history to complete your DS-160 form. You might need additional supporting documents about your visit’s purpose, profession and salary.

    Once you've finished the application, print out your confirmation page – you'll need it to make a payment and for your interview. Each official US embassy webpage details the protocol for paying your application fee and making an appointment.

    While some embassies require bank transfers or in-person payments, most will redirect you to third-party websites like Official US Visa Information and Appointment Services or UsTravelDocs to pay the non-refundable US$185 fee for non-immigrant visas. Both websites allow you to schedule appointments at a US embassy, the second step in your visa application process.

    For the in-person interview, you must submit the following:

    • Passport

    • A printout of the DS-160’s confirmation page with ID number

    • Printed recent passport-style photo

    • Receipt or evidence of visa fee payment

    • Copy of appointment letter

    • Intended travel itinerary

    • Supporting documentation (assets and employment proof, bank statements, etc)

    Your visa application process isn’t finished until you complete both steps. An additional reciprocity fee applies in some cases on the interview day. Once approved, your visa will be delivered to you via courier.

  • Invitation letters can be downloaded from your registration dashboard. This letter assists with your Visa application. You will be able to download an invitation letter once you have paid for your registration fee in full and have entered in your passport details.

    How to download the invitation letter:

    • Log on to the registration dashboard as a return registrant by entering your email and password.

    • Scroll the menu to the 'Document' section and select the button 'Enter Details'.

    • All required fields must be completed before a visa letter can be generated. Once the form is submitted, the option to download your PDF visa letter will appear on the main screen.

    Please email the Conference Secretariat if you are having difficulties downloading a Letter of Invitation from your dashboard.

GETTING AROUND

  • There is a free shuttle at the Arrivals level of the International Terminal that goes to the Domestic Terminal. You will need to take the ATL SkyTrain from the Domestic Terminal to the Rental Car Center.

  • Uber & Lyft: After clearing immigration and customs, collect your luggage and proceed to the International Terminal Arrivals level. Exit through Door A1 or A2 and cross the pedestrian crosswalk to the designated rideshare pickup area. Request your Uber or Lyft once you reach the pickup area. Enter the vehicle only after confirming the driver's name, vehicle and licence plate.

  • Taxi: After clearing immigration, collecting your luggage and passing through customs, follow the signs to the Arrivals Hall and Ground Transportation area. Exit through Door A1 and follow the signs for Taxis (Yellow / Zone 1). A taxi rank is located directly outside the terminal.

    Taxis operate from the official airport taxi rank, so there is no need to arrange a taxi in advance.

  • MARTA is Atlanta's public transport system and provides an economical way to travel from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to downtown Atlanta.

    From the International Terminal:

    1. After clearing immigration and customs, collect your luggage and follow signs for Ground Transportation.

    2. Take the free ATL International Terminal shuttle bus to the Domestic Terminal.

    3. At the Domestic Terminal, follow signs to MARTA Airport Station.

    4. Take a northbound Red or Gold Line train towards downtown Atlanta.

    5. For the simplest journey with luggage, get off at Five Points Station and take a short taxi or rideshare to Signia by Hilton Atlanta Georgia World Congress Center.

    6. Alternatively, passengers comfortable walking can continue towards Vine City Station, which is approximately 0.2 miles from the hotel.

    Please note: The MARTA train station is located at the Domestic Terminal, so international passengers must first take the free airport shuttle from the International Terminal.

    MARTA trains are generally less expensive than taxis and avoid road traffic. Check the MARTA website for current fares, schedules and service updates before travelling.
